What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. Here, I have this filter strap wrench that we sell at 1aauto.com. Generally, you use this if you have trouble getting a oil filter off. This is for extreme cases, although you can use it under normal circumstances, too. You put this around the oil filter, and if you go like this, this would be tightening it up. So, we want to loosen it. Go around the other way, just like that, and it's going to loosen.
What you can do is take a screwdriver, slide it through there, use the screwdriver, or you could even use a half-inch breaker bar or ratchet. If you would like this tool, or any other tools, click the link in the description and head over to 1aauto.com.

I like this wrench very much. It's big enough to fit anything up to 6 inches. I had good leverage with even a short stubby screw driver.
I know one should hand tighten the oil filter back on. But I had a heck of a time laying underneath at a weird angle. My hand grip ain't the strongest. So I gently cheated with the strap wrench to put the filter back on. Worked like a charm. Best filter wrench yet.
Gave it a try.

Did not work for me. It just collapsed the oil filter . Probably works ok when filter is not extremely overtightened.
