Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the serpentine belt on this 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. It's the same part and similar process on these Monte Carlos from 2000 until 2005. The only items you'll need for this include a new serpentine belt from 1AAuto.com and a 3/8 inch ratchet.
Your tensioner is located right here and it's got a square hole in it. You want to just stick your 3/8 inch ratchet in there and then pull up on the tensioner. Then, just pull your belt from this pulley, release the tension on your tensioner carefully, and pull the ratchet free. Now, just pull your belt off the rest of the pulleys and pull it up and out. You're belt diagram is located right here, and you want to make sure you follow this belt diagram as you put the belt back on each of the pulleys. You can just refer back to this as you're doing this process.
You want to start with the lower pulleys. Just feed the belt down there and start placing it on the pulleys. You want to make sure your belt is in place on each of those pulleys except for this pulley right here. Then you want to take your ratchet, push it back into the tensioner, and pull back. Then put the belt up and onto that pulley. Once you have that in place, you want to make sure the belt stayed in place on all those other pulleys, so just look around and make sure everything is in order. Then release the tension on your tensioner and pull your ratchet free. You're all set.
