Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to service a taillight on this 2008 Toyota Tacoma. Pretty easy. The only tool you'll need is a 10 millimeter wrench or a socket and ratchet. There were two different styles of lights. You'll see we take one style off and put the different style on.
Open up the tailgate, and then there's two 10 millimeter bolts right here. So, the first one's right here. Those two bolts are 10 millimeters, and I'm just going to speed it up here as I remove them. Once you have those bolts out, we'll pull back on the light, and it comes out.
If you're just looking to service the bulbs, these sockets twist counterclockwise, and it'll come out. Then the bulbs pull straight out from the sockets. If you want to disconnect the entire assembly, there is a connector right here. You press on the tab. Disconnect it.
At 1A Auto, we sell both the regular style light and this is the later style light. It has the chrome ring and clear lens, and so I'll show you it'll go in. It connects just like the original one. We'll put this back in and clip it. Then, obviously, it mounts right in. Just looking through the side here, there are two pins. Make sure that they line up. We'll use a little fast motion here as I start the bolts in by hand and then tighten them up nice and firm. You don't want to over-tighten them. Tighten them nice and firm with your 10 millimeter socket and ratchet or wrench. Okay, once it's installed, we'll do a little test.
