Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor resistor on this 2004 Volkswagen Jetta and it's the same part and similar process on these Jettas from 1999 to 2008 and the items you'll need for this are a new blower motor resistor from 1AAuto.com, a 6mm socket and ratchet and a flat blade screwdriver.
Underneath your glove box, you'll see this foam panel. Just pull it down and around that clip. Then, push the tabs on either side of this harness and just pull it free. Then remove this 6mm bolt right here and this 6mm bolt right here. We'll just fast forward as Don does that. Now the resistor will just pull down and out.
On the left is the old blower motor resistor. On the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and they'll fit exactly the same. Now just remove this clip with a flat blade screwdriver and transfer it over to your new blower motor resistor. Now push the resistor back up into place and replace those two 6mm bolts. Reconnect the harness and then just push this foam back up and over that clip. Then just pop it in and you're all set.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

I had to replace the heater resistor in my 2004 Jetta because the old blower motor burned the resistor out due to worn brushes. Installing the resistor was easy after watching the website video showing the step by step installation of the resistor. Obviously I replaced the blower motor as well. A1Auto guranteed the parts would fit my Jetta, and they did. Still running fine. Delivery was right on time and there is an abundance of information on the website on whatever part you may need.
Easy fix!

The blower fans had stopped working on settings 1, 2, and 3 and only worked on the 4th setting in my 2003 VW Jetta. I did some reading that said this resistor fails and the 4th setting is a fail safe. replaced with this resistor and it works perfectly now.
