This gas cap was identical to my oem one and fit perfect. There is no retaining pin for the lanyard that attaches the gas cap to the car. I used a nut and bolt with lock thread and it worked fine. My check engine light went off as I suspected the gas cap was probably the cause. Easy fix.

I needed a new gas with my 2010 Volkswagen Passat. I ordered this exact cap and I couldnt have been pleased more. Two days after installing, my check engine light went off as prescribed. I love it!
