Customer Q&A
Do I need to remove oil pan?

No. You can seal the bottom of the timing cover where it meets the oil pan with an appropriate squeeze out gasket material

Oil pan removal is not necessary for the installation of these parts.

Not necessarily. on a 96 GM 350 (5.7L) I did it without removing the oil pan. This does mean that ensuring a seal between the timing chain cover and the oil pan is crucial. There is a significant gap between the two, so when you put the new timing chain cover on make sure there is a LARGE bead of gasket maker on the bottom portion that mates to the oil pan. Immediately after installing, inspect the oil pan to timing cover seal, ensuring you see a thick bead sealing all the way around. a crucial area is right at the block to pan interface

not on a 1996-99 5.7 vortec; the chain and hardware go in great and good product; the cover is the pain, but all are the same. Watch the youtube vids several times and re that gasket goo, you can't add it later, it all has to be done right the first time so clean surfaces and learn where that stupid gap is; pay attention to the gasket goo skimming over timeline and cure time. And the torque. Then pray.
