Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how to video helps you out and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blower motor or fan speed resistor. Usually this goes bad in a lot of trucks and you lose fan speeds. You'll see it on this truck. Only tool you'll need is a 7 mm socket and a ratchet. A lot of times in these vehicles this will happen. Turn you key on. You can see I've got my system on and you can hear it running on 4, but it doesn't run on any of the other speeds. The resistor on this vehicle is right back here. It's this plug here. There's a tab on this side. Pull up on it, and then pull the plug up and out. Now there's three bolts holding it in, two there on top and then one down on the bottom.
Then just going to speed it up here as I use the 7 mm socket and ratchet to remove those three screws. You can see once you get them out a little ways, you can usually turn them out the rest of the way with your hand. There's the old one out. The new one from 1A Auto. You can see it's exactly the same. Put it in carefully. Then you can actually plug it in and do a quick test. You can actually already hear my fan going a little bit on 1, 2, 3, and 4. I've got all my fan speeds again. Speed it up again. I'm going to go back in there unplug it, start the bolts in by hand first make sure they're going, and then tighten them up. When you tighten them you want to tighten them firm, but you don't want to over tighten them.
