Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years of experience repairing and restoring cars and trucks like this to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video, we'll be showing you how to replace the front wiper motor on this '98 Chevy Venture, same as Pontiac Transport and Pontiac Montana as well as the Olds Silhouette. Tools you'll need. A flat blade screwdriver, 8mm socket and ratchet and a T30 Torx bit and ratchet.
First you want to pull up this gasket here that allows you to pull your cover up. Next thing you want to do is use a screwdriver and unplug your motor, this way it won't be tempted to run. Now you want to use an 8mm socket and loosen these two bolts here. That will come up and off.
Now you want to use a T30 Torx driver and remove the screw right on top of your arm. Once that's out, take the screwdriver and pry the arm up and off. Okay, once your arm is up and off, there's three more T30 bolts that hold the motor right below the arm. Pretty easy to see. Speed it up here as we remove those. Okay, now your wiper motor can come down and out. Re-installation, pretty much the reverse procedure. This motor is actually fine. I'm just going to re-install it. The new motor from 1A Auto are just like the old one. They'd install just the same.
The installation, put it behind this washer hose, just kind of wraped around like that. There are locating pins I could put it up in. Start the bolts. Again, re-install the arm. I'm going to re-install the old one. There's nothing wrong with it. The new ones from 1A Auto are all exactly like these old ones. They have the safety catch in case your wipers get stuck. What you want to do is put it on the arm and pretty much kind of hold it like that, straight, that's where it bolts in. Just a note, you do want to have your wipers down in the parked position as you're doing, putting this back together.
Use a little white grease and if you're getting squeaking out of your wipers, you want to check there. There's other joints here, here and even another one over there. I'll loosen up these 8mm bolts, drop them down. Put a little bit of grease on there. That will stop the squeaking pretty well. It should move around a little bit. Take the cover, just put it back on. Just put this back on. Obviously you want to plug your wiper motor in.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

Highly recommend this wiper motor replacement. It fit my 2001 Oldsmobile Silhoutte as advertised and was relatively easy to install. The most challenging item was removal of the rear screw that held the motor into the bracket; the star fitting was not the same as the other two screws. Otherwise straightforward.

It won't turn at all. Casing only heats up. Plugged it in without mounting it, and the old one ran, but the new one didn't. The return process started easily -- they asked for VIN and part number and all. Really appreciated that they didn't seem to need the paperwork. But I haven't heard from them in several days. They didn't say what they were doing about it. Wondering if they are sending me a return label or something.
