In this video, we are going to show you removal and installation of the radiator bottle cap even though it is as easy as it seems, and given you a little more background information as well.
These caps actually hold in a certain amount of pressure. If they fail, the cooling system can be not pressurized. Actually, what pressurizing does is it raises the overheating temperature so the car less likely be overheat. Obviously, replacing is very easy. You want to make sure you do it when the vehicle is not hot. Make sure it's cooled down fully.
Take the cap off. It is push spring loaded. It is hard to see but, it allows it to bend if it goes above 15 PSI. That 15 PSI brings you to an important note. Different vehicles have different pressure caps. If one vehicle requires a 15 pound cap and you put say a seven pound cap on it, your vehicle can appear to overheat because it goes above that seven PSI and then steam will come from that cap. You'll always want to make sure that you replace the cap with one that has the same pressure rating. New cap from 1A Auto. Put it on. Make sure you make it nice and secure. You don't have to crank it really tight. It only needs to be good and firm.
