In this video we're going to show you how to remove and reinstall the taillight, whether you need to replace a broken taillight or you're just looking to replace a bulb. We're working here on a 2003 F250, same as any super duty truck of this era. The only tool you'll need is an 8mm wrench or socket with ratchet.
Okay, pretty straight forward. On the backside here there's two bolts that you need to remove. These bolts are 8mm. Speed it up here as I use an 8mm socket with a ratchet to remove those two bolts. Okay, once you have those bolts out pull down. The bulbs twist counterclockwise to disconnect. To service the bulb just pull it out, push it back in. The same up here. The new taillight from 1A Auto, if your taillight loses a battle with a 2x4 or fire wood, which happens on my truck a lot get a nice new light from 1A Auto. It goes right in. Everything goes right together. There are a couple line-up tabs. You just kind of want to get the bulbs in. Watch those line-up tabs. Get them in place.
Okay, we'll speed it up here as I put those two 8mm bolts back in. When you tighten them up you don't want to over tighten them, because you are just tightening speed screws into plastic, so make them firm but not too tight.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

In this video we're going to be working with our 1998 Ford F150. We're going to show you how to remove and replace your vehicle's tail lights, as well as the tail light bulbs. If you like this video, please click subscribe, we have a ton more information on this and many other vehicles and if you need these parts for your truck you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com. Here are the items you'll need for this repair.
Open your tailgate and you can access the two 8 mm screws securing your taillight. Remove those with an 8 mm socket and ratchet. Now you can just pull these taillights out by hand, but they're very prone to breaking the tabs in the back. If you have a plastic trim tool it's a good idea to use that to pry out toward you and remove your taillight.
To change the bulbs, turn the socket counterclockwise. This has some LEDs in it but it's the same as a conventional bulb as far as replacing it. Simply pop it out and install your new one. You can then put the socket back into the taillight and turn it clockwise to lock. There's your brake light. The process for the reverse light is exactly the same: turn counterclockwise, remove the socket, remove the bulb, install your new bulb, reinstall the socket and turn it clockwise to engage.
To remove your taillight assembly lift the tabs, there should be two but our connectors. Ours are a little beat up. The bottom one doesn't have any tabs left on it but they should have two tabs you'd lift and pull off the connector and remove your taillight from the vehicle.
Reconnect the electrical connectors, these are color coded to the correct sockets. They have these little metal tabs that sit into the plastic retainers here. Line those up and pop them in. Reinstall your two 8 mm bolts. These are only plastic thread going in to a plastic hole so just get them snug. There's really no need to crank these down tight, otherwise you risk cracking that retainer and having a loose taillight. Close your tailgate and you're good to go.

Light Assemblies
Alvin
April 22, 2017
This is the second time that I've ordered a light assembly from 1A Auto Supply. The first was headlights for a Chevy Impala. The ease in navigating their site and ordering parts is great. Both of these orders have arrived ahead of estimated delivery dates and had no damages to the lights. Their how-to videos are as good or better than most. They really help us old shadetree mechanics who need help with new technologies.
