Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace an A/C and heater blower motor on this 2002 Ford Escape, same as any 2001 to 2007. Also the same for the Mercury Mariner. The only tool you'll need is an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
The blower is right here, near your passenger's feet. It's held in by three bolts. You can see one right up in there, one there, and then, one right there. The first step in the process is you actually want to disconnect your blower motor resistor which is further under the dash. There's a little tab on the backside that you push. Then, pull that connector down and off. Now, you want to disconnect the blower motor and you pull the harness up and out of the clip. There's another clip that holds the connector on. Pull that down with your finger, and then pull the harness off. Now, I'm going to fast forward here as I remove the three bolts. Basically the blower motor comes right down. It is a little bit of a tight fit so it requires a little bit of force to get it out between the air duct and the kick panel on the side. If you really watch close, you'll notice that when I filmed this I did not unplug the heater, the blower motor resistor first. The harness got in the way a little bit, so I definitely recommend unplugging that blower motor resistor first.
Prepare the new motor. I use a little bit of contact cement to glue on the foam pad. Make sure that you compare the two. Put this in the right place and also a little bit of contact cement to glue on this gasket on the other side. Put the plastic down on it.
From here, it's a reverse of the procedure. I'm going to speed through it. You basically just force the motor up in there. You kind of twist it into place and get that protrusion that's on the back of the motor up into place. Start a bolt by hand. Start two of them by hand. Tighten those two up then put the third one in that's over closer to the kick panel. It's usually easiest to do it that way. Once you get everything tightened up, later on here, I will just reconnect both harnesses and it'll be good to go.

My old blower fan (factory) split down the middle. Got this as a replacement and was not disappointed. This model has a metal washer bit you can see in the picture to help prevent the exact type of split that my factory blower developed. Works great and is maybe 5% quieter than my old blower.

An easy installation with a correct replacement part. The fan cage attachment to the shaft appeared to be better than original equipment, so I have high hopes this will last as long or longer.
Fan blower motor fits as it should.

Works great, another blower motor I purchased required me to cut the wires. I didnt want to do that so I purchased the one from 1A auto. It was as the original was, plug & play with the blower cage attached.
