Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor on this 2002 Chevy Suburban with the 5.3 liter V8 engine. It's the same part and similar process on these Suburbans from 2000 to 2006. The items you'll need are a new fuel tank pressure sensor from 1AAuto.com, an 8 and a 15 millimeter socket and ratchet with an extension, a flat blade screwdriver, a pry bar, and jack and jack stands.
Start off by loosening these two hose clamps. It's that hose but we actually end up loosening the hose clamp that's up near the spare tire on the other end of the hose from where we pointed as you can see here. That'll make it a little bit easier when we actually get the tank down. Once you loosen those hose clamps, just pull those hoses free. You may need to use a pry bar to help get that free. You can also use a large flat blade screwdriver.
Now, you want to take a jack stand and just put it underneath your gas tank. Next you want to remove the gas tank straps. To do that, you want to remove this 15 millimeter bolt, and this one on the other strap. We'll just fast forward as Don does that. Now just pull that strap up and out of that slot. Do the same thing with the other one.
Now it's helpful to have an assistant to just spot the tank and make sure it doesn't go down too far or start to slide or anything. You just want to lower it down just enough so that you can see the sensors on top and then just lift up the tab and disconnect the sensor on the top of your fuel sending unit. Using a flat blade screw driver or a pry bar, just pry the sensor up and out.
On the left is the old sensor. On the right is the new fuel tank pressure sensor from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Take your new sensor and push it in to place. Make sure it's all the way down into place and then reconnect your harness.
We'll just fast forward as Don raises the tank. Now reconnect these two hoses and slide the hose clamps into place. Then just tighten them up with your socket and ratchet. Slide the rear gas tank strap into the slot and then feed it up with the bolt in, and tighten it up, and then, repeat the process for the gas tank strap on the other side. You're all set.

So I had a pretty frustrating job ahead of me. I was throwing the code P0446 on my 04 Burb. In order to fix the problem I had to replace the fuel tank pressure sensor that is located on top of the gas tank so naturally I went to 1aauto to grab the part. I also checked out the how to video to replace the sensor. I knew it wasnt going to be a easy driveway job since I didnt have a lift that makes the job a heck of a lot better experience. As I pondered the necessary tools and other things needed for the job I realized I was missing something very important. Once it clicked in my mind what it was I went back to my cart at the website and added an XL blue 1aauto t-shirt. What a difference this makes in tackling a job like this. I mean, I felt like I was Don in the 1aauto how to videos. 5 stars all the way!!!

Had a check engine light on. I bought a fuel tank pressure sensor. Installed it and light went off. A1 parts always worked good for me. I didnt install ac Delco cuz I dont trust ac delco. Previous ac delco sensors failed at 65000. So For me I dont trust ac delco . Already installed odometer gauges, smog sensors all ac delco. No part from a1 has failed yet.good parts, good price, easy to order, ships fast.
Great

Parts always fit what i bought them for and there are professional videos to assist with the job. What more could anyone ask for? Oh yeah, the parts are comparable in price if not cheaper than other places. They are role models in the auto industry

It didn't fit my car even though they said it did. there is 2 different 3.5l engines depends what the 8th digit is in your vin . I already had the tank down and was getting ready to install when I realized it was the wrong part. So I had to go to my local part store and buy the correct one. So you need to call and have them check which vin you have so I now have a worthless part
Fit good in 06 Silverado 1500.

I put a 5 star rating because it was exactly as described. Took a little longer to get to me but it's Christmas time so I kind of expected that. It fit fine in my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L Crew 5.5' bed. Couldn't install it without lifting the bed up. My hand and arm wouldn't fit on top of the gas tank. I put it in because I got the P0446 code and I already replaced the vent valve solenoid. I was hoping this would fix the code. It didn't, code came back on. So I can't really say if it's working or not cause my situation is no different than before. Trying to avoid taking it somewhere for a stupid emissions code but I don't have a diagnostic tool. I only have a code reader. I may have to take it somewhere.
