Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the air conditioning and heater fan resistor. These vehicles have automatic temperature control. If your fan's not working or if it comes on at only high speeds or comes on at only low speeds, or doesn't quite take care of your needs as far as warming up or cooling down the car, usually that's a sign that your resistor has gone bad. It's a pretty easy procedure. You just need an 8mm socket with a ratchet and an extension and, as well, a flashlight will help.
Come on in here to your glove box, open it up. You'll want to remove anything that's inside of it. Then you just pull each side of it over. Then the glove box comes down. Then right back in here, this is your resistor. Press in and unplug one harness. Press in and unplug the other harness. Use an 8mm socket with a ratchet and extension. I'll just speed up as I remove the two bolts that hold the resistor in place. Pull it right out.
There's my original one, and a new one from 1AAuto. You can see it's going to connect all the same, with a slightly different look on the inside portion of it. It's going to go right in. Start one bolt. Start the other bolt. Again, I'll fast forward here. Start the bolts in; tighten them up with your 8mm socket and ratchet and extension. When you tighten them, you want to be careful not to over-tighten them, just get them in there, nice and firm. Plug it in. Bring your glove box up, push the side in. Push the other side in and your all set.

Got the motor & resistor parts & everything fit well & runs great now. The back 2 bolts were a pain to get to on the motor & the resistor for the auto temp control is a tight fit but some wiggling will persuade it out of there
Good service

Customer Q&A
How do I know if its a Blower Motor Fan or the Blower Motor Module thats bad?February 13, 2019

Unfortunately, we are unable to assist with diagnosis. We suggest taking your vehicle to a nearby reputable shop to identify the cause. Once you know the cause, we'll be happy to see if we carry the parts and how-to videos needed for your repair.

Electrical items are no longer eligible to return once opened so we would not suggest purchasing one to test the issue. Common signs of a bad resistor would be the blower motor stuck on one speed, the blower motor only works on certain settings, no air coming from the vents. If the blower motor itself is bad you will see signs of weak airflow from the vents, it only blows at certain speeds, or no air coming from the vents. We hope this helps.
