Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to replace a radiator coolant recovery tank. Sometimes these can rupture in these vehicles. It's actually a pretty easy repair. The only tool you'll need is a flat blade screwdriver. On our vehicle, our tank is still in good shape, so we kind of just give you the basics of how to remove it and reinstall it.
The coolant recovery bottle is right here. Due to the nature of where it is, the vibration, and also sometimes a small fender bender, the bottle can get ruptured. They are very easy actually to get out. The only thing you'll need is a flat blade screwdriver. First, you want to lift up on your power steering reservoir. It just kind of clips away from the coolant bottle. Then, you actually just lift up firmly on the coolant bottle itself as well. As you can see my coolant bottle is holding coolant fine. So, I'm not going to take it all the way out. I'm just going to show you here. What you would want to do is take a flat blade screwdriver and obviously, if yours is ruptured, you won't have coolant in it or you'll have very little in it, but, you'll want to loosen the clamp right here. This is just a band clamp. Loosen that up. You'll twist the hose a little bit, pull it off. Also, you have a connector right here. You press down on the tab right here and then just pull the connector out. Then you can take your whole bottle out. Again, mine is fine so I'm not going to disconnect it. If I disconnect it, I'll spill coolant all over the place. I don't want to do that, but, that's basically it.
You'd take it out, put it back in, place it back in here. Reconnect your hose and make sure you don't pinch your power steering line in here at all. When you go to put the bottle back in, there's these two on top which are easy to see. There's one further down here, a little tab that goes into a slot in the body right there. Put that slot in, put that down in place, reach in, reconnect our harness right here, and push it until it snaps. Slide this power steering reservoir right down on.
