Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the wiper arm on this 2005 GMC Savana 2500. We're going to work on the passenger side but the driver side is very similar. The tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, 13mm socket and ratchet, and some penetrating oil.
The first thing that you want to do is, on the wiper arm, you can see there is a little black cap there. You want to use a flat blade screwdriver and just pry that cap off. Underneath the cap, there is a 13mm nut, and you just want to use a socket and ratchet to remove that. Next to that nut you just removed, you can see there is a washer hose, just pull that out. Now, you just want to spray that bolt right there with some penetrating oil. That will make it easier to remove the wiper arm. After you've let it set for a little while, you just want to push in and out on the wiper arm and pull out, and it should come off. Remove the wiper blade, just push that tab, pull back on the wiper blade, and it comes off.
The new wiper arm from 1A Auto is up front and the old one is in the back. You can see they're identical. In this case, we're just going to use our old wiper arm because it's still in good condition. You just want to slide the wiper blade onto that. Then, you want to put the wiper arm back in place. You just push down. Once the blade is in place, you want to angle it how you want it. Replace the nut and tighten it with your socket and ratchet. Once that's tightened, you want to just replace that black cap and plug in your washer hose, and you're all set.
