Brought to you by 1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, I'm Mike Green. I'm one of the owners of 1A Auto. I want to help you save time and money repairing and maintaining your vehicle. I'm going to use my 20 plus years experience, restoring and repairing cars and trucks like this, to show you the correct way to install parts from 1AAuto.com. The right parts, installed correctly, that's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
This video, where going to show you how to replace the turn signal, multifunction as well as the wiper switch on this 2001 PT Cruiser, same as any 01 to 05. Tools you'll need are 10 mm wrench or socket and ratchet, a Phillips screwdriver, a flat blade screwdriver and a T10 Torx driver. You want to disconnect your negative battery cable, there's little clasps that hold the air cleaner cover down and then you lift it up, you can see your negative cable right here. I'm just going to speed it up here as I loosen that up and then lift the cable right up and off. At first you're going to want to reach in, and you can just grab on to this panel here and pull it right down. Then, up inside here there is a Phillips screw, can't really see it, and then there is another Phillips screw right inside here, near the steering wheel. You want to remove both those Phillips screws. We'll speed up here a little bit as we remove those 2 Phillips screws from the bottom side. This should come down then lift that up and off and there are 2 screws here, Phillips.
We'll fast forward here again, apologies, I didn't get a close up on those screws but they're silver screws right on top, a little bit hard to miss. This whole assembly comes up, and then off to the side. You can see right back here, you have to pull a lock out here, use a screwdriver to remove that harness and then on the other side, there's the same thing. Pull this lock out here and then press the tab down to remove that harness. Flat blade screwdriver, pop those locks out, squeeze the lever on the plug, there's something on this side and the switch assembly comes right out. Depending on what your replacing, you might want to take out these 2 T10 Torx screws. That allows the wiper switch to swap. Either change your wiper switch onto your new headlight and turn signal switch or vice versa. This vehicle everything is working fine, just showing you how to do it so I'll put it back together. Make sure this is back in place. Reconnect the harnesses, a little redundant. Put the locking tabs back in if you'd like.
We'll kick it into high gear again here and start those screws in then tighten them nice and snug with your screwdriver and then after that, make sure that the closeout foam is on each side and then put the top cover back on and then the bottom cover. Make sure that the foam doesn't get pinched in between, snap it together and put your screws in at the bottom. Once those are nice and snug, everything's together, then flip your closeout panel at the bottom back up. The last step is just make sure that you set all the settings on the switch to off, the wipers, headlights and stuff and then reconnect your negative battery cable and you might get a couple little sparks, nothing is going to hurt you though. Tighten it up with your 10 mm wrench and then put the air box cover down, clamp it back on and it should be all set.
