Hey, I'm Brian, I'm here to give you guys a little tutorial on some window regulators. The specific design is the scissor design. We actually get a lot of calls on these products here and the common question is: The part I received seems different than the part in my vehicle.
The scissor design actually has a flip design and we're actually going to show you how to fix this here. The most common thing that you want to do, or the first step you want to do is lay the parts out side by side. Try not to match them up in the car because this can get confusing. Take it out, lay them side by side, and what you actually see here is a same exact part for the same model vehicle in the same door. As the appearance shows here, they seem to be mirrored.
If you look down at the bottom here, we have the power window motor. This is the piece that is actually powered to lift and lower your glass. The next section down here is . you actually have your gear drive. Here's your mounting plates on both. As you can see, it's identical. You have your tension spring here. If you notice on the upper section here, it's kind of reversed. You're going to think normally, I get the wrong side door. You're going to give us a call and you want to express that to one of our customer service reps. I'm going to show you how to fix this.
Basically, pick this up by the base and you want to scissor or flip. This is how you're going to fix the issue. It's going to actually match the component as shown there. You can now see that both of these components here are the same part and you're ready for installation.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a power window regulator with the motor on this 2005 Durango. It's pretty much the same for any 2004 to 2009 Durango, although for some years, removing the door panel may be a little different. You'll need a new window regulator from 1AAuto.com, a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver, and a 10mm wrench or socket with a ratchet.
Take a small screwdriver, push towards the front, pry up on your panel here, and now that comes up and out. Then the front slides out, and then there's three connectors. They just have little tabs you can push with your thumb. Pull up and out. Now, in behind here, door handle, just pry out this little cover here with a small screwdriver, and there's a Phillips screw as well as a Phillips screw under there, and then one further back there. I'll just fast-forward here. I'm just using a Phillips screwdriver and removing those three screws that I just showed you.
Once those screws are out, just lift up on the panel and then start pulling it out. You'll see a little blue clip back here, pull that blue clip back off the rod, pull the rod up, and remove your door panel. To put your panel back on, just make sure your harnesses go in through there, pull this rod out, put it into that blue clip, and lock your clip on. Use a screwdriver, and there's three screws that hold your speaker on. I'll fast-forward here a little bit as I remove those screws that hold the speaker, then pull the speaker out and there's a little tab on the connector, disconnect the speaker, and then slowly and carefully pull your water shield off. Be careful not to ripe or tear it and then put it aside.
Now, ideally what you want is to have the window down in the down position. You would loosen two nuts they're 10mm right there and right there, and that allows the window to slide over and out, and then you can pull the window up. I have the switch on here because usually what actually happens is that your window, window motor, or regulator will break in the up position. I'm going to show you how to remove it if it's stuck in the up position. Basically, what you're going to want to do is remove these four bolts here they're 10mm and then carefully remove this bolt, and this bolt, and that will allow the whole assembly to slide down.
Your connector hooks in right here. You can actually put a finger in, press the tab on the side, and then use another finger to or a screwdriver to pry it up. I'm pressing and disconnecting the window motor there. I'm just going to put it in fast-motion here as I start removing those six bolts that hold the regulator and the rail to the door. Now here, as I'm loosening the last bolt, you can see the window starting to slide down, and then basically once I get the bolt out, slide the whole assembly down into the door. Now here, I can reach in again with my socket and ratchet and loosen up those two nuts that hold the window to the regulator that I showed you awhile back in the video, and that'll allow me to separate the window from the regulator. I'm just going to loosen them up with a few turns. Slide the regulator back and slide it back.
Then you're just going to hold on the window and pull the regulator right out. Next, you want to grab a firm hold of the inside weather strip that's on top of the door and pull that up and off. Then, what you can do is just take the window, slide it down, and slide it down and back up, and then just pull the window right out. Here's our new regulator from 1A Auto. Pretty much the same as the original, the only one difference is it has a pigtail here, you just want to make sure that stays out of your way.
What I've done is I've put this bolt in, started this bolt in, and this one. We'll slide this in and put it into place, and you can see I've got this bolt and this bolt in place, and I'm going to put this right up in place there. Reach in, bring this up, start that bolt in. Start the last two bolts in. As I usually do, we'll speed up here. Basically, I first just thread all the bolts in by hand to get them finger tight, and then tighten them up with the 10mm socket and ratchet. Tighten them up nice and firm, they don't have to be extremely tight, but they have to be good and firm. Here's our lead for the motor. What we're going to want to, I'm actually going to bring this out and then connect these two together, and you want to tuck right down here and just make sure this stays out of the way of the window. Now take the window, put it down in nose first, make sure that the nose is going in between the weather strip there, and it's going in properly in the back here, make sure that it goes in and slides up and down easy and then let it down into place.
Now down here, let it down and pull it down, try to get the track around those nuts, and then slide the track forward and tighten these up. Plug our switch in here. Key on. Everything looks pretty good. Take the switch back off. Put this back on, pull your harness through here. What you want to do, you want to line up some of these things like line this screw hole here, and then press right along, bring latch rod through, this goes up in here. Line up this over here. Just speed it up here, just a little bit as I finish putting that water shield in place.
Then reconnect my speaker and use the three screws to reattach it to the door. Make sure your door lock goes through there. You want to press it against, you can look back in here and see where all the little hooks are in the front. Just make sure that the front and rear go in flush with door. I'm making sure all clips are on there correctly. Slide it down. Oops, I didn't realize this came out. Make sure that lock is on there. Slide it right down. Everything should be nice and tight around the edges. Here, I'm going to speed it up again as I just reinstall the three screws, the two at the bottom, and the one in behind the door handle. Those three screws are what hold the door handle in place. Pull our harnesses out. Slide this down, slide the front in first, and the rear and, then, just, this can be a little bit of a pain, but just put this little trim door thing back on.
