In this video, we're going to show you tail light replacement on this 2001 Chevy Impala, same as a '97 to '03, and no tools are necessary.
To replace the tail light, pretty easy, you're going to see a loosen type of. Then, you pull this back, and then there's three wing nuts, and you can also use, I believe, a 10-mm wrench. Remove those three.
Tail light pulls back. If you're looking to replace a bulb, you want to disconnect your connection here, which basically from the bottom, there's a little tab and pull. Here's a little tab, and you pull that connector. There's your tail light off. Your bulbs are back in here. Pull up on these little tabs. You can see there's water in this one. Pull that plate off. Then, the bulbs just pull right out. Then once you have this plate off, the bulbs pull out and push back in. The plate just pops right back on like that.
New tail light from 1A Auto. Everything is going to go in just the same. Pops right in. Just kind of make sure you use the plug in the right spot. Pop that on. Then, make sure all your studs go in and then use your nuts on the back side. Then, you just put this back in place and you're all set.

Perfect fit!

The new tail light was a perfect fit. Exactly like the original, except the plastic wasn't dull and hazy like my original from my 2000 Malibu. I bought it to replace a damaged lens, but would also be a nice upgrade if you have old, hazy tail light lenses. Took about 5 minutes to install.
Great Part

I recommend this product. It arrived on time and it was the correct item. The install was easy, and it appeared to work when I tested the lights (backup, brake, signal, regular) with the key in the ignition. I said great, that worked without a hitch. But when I went to start the car, it would not start. It showed a battery light on the dash. I spent a half an hour trying to figure out what was wrong with the car. Figuring I would have the car towed to the dealership, just for grins I figured I would confirm the new lights still worked. It turns out one of the bulbs was burned out (there are four bulbs on the board). That seemed odd. So I swapped out the old board and bulbs for the new board and bulds, and the car started! It appears there was a fault in the new board. Since I only needed a new outside shell, I was good using my old board. Maybe a short circuit in the new board? I don't know, but if you run into this problem, maybe try using the old board. I still recommend sho

New light bulbs are not included with this assembly. Occasionally, manufacturers leave test bulbs in the lights. If you receive test bulbs, you'll want to replace them with your original bulbs or with new bulbs.
