Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the blend door actuator on this 2002 Chevy Suburban. You'll need a new blend door actuator from 1AAuto.com, a 7mm socket and ratchet, and a 7/32 socket.
Start off by removing the 7mm bolts from this panel underneath your glove box, this one being right there, and we'll fast-forward as Don removes these 3 bolts. Pull down the panel and remove it. Your blend door actuator is right here. Just push the tab on the harness, pull it free, and then remove that 7/32 bolt and the other one on the other side. We'll fast-forward as Don does this. Now pull the actuator down and it will pull free.
On the left is the old blend door actuator; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Take the blend door actuator, push it back up into place, and replace those two 7/32 bolts. We'll just fast-forward as Don replaces those and tightens them up. Connect the harness, push this panel back up into place, replace those three 7mm bolts, and you're all set.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

In this video, we're going to be replacing the temperature door actuator on this '02 GMC Sierra. This is usually the problem when you turn your temperature control knob, and you don't get any warmer or cold air. You're either just getting warm or just cold or just one temperature. Tools you'll need are a 7mm socket and a 7/32s inch socket with an extension and a ratchet.
On the passenger side, there are four 7mm bolts to remove: one there and one in there. There's one up in that hole right there. I can't really film it. And then over here, closer to the gas pedal there is one right there. Once you remove those bolts, just reach in, kind of pull it down and out of the way.
The actuator is right down here. It's held in with two bolts, they're 7/32s. One of them is right over here. The other one's on the opposite side. It’s a little more difficult to get to. Kind of have to stuff the wrench in there. Kind of starts coming out, and you can disconnect your wrench and just use the socket. Okay.
So the actuator then comes down and out, and there's a little connector right here. Just push and disconnect. Very important when replacing one of these actuators. Make sure that you do not power the actuator up before it's installed.
So make sure your key is off, and you'll see that I actually install it before I plug it in. So install. Push it up and in, and get on the pin in there. I'm starting this bolt over here. Just use my socket. Okay and the final part is to put your cover back in place. You want to push it up in there.
You push it kind of against the firewall first. And I'm sorry about shaking around a little bit here, just trying to film with one hand and push it up in there with the other. Push the front of it up and in first and then make sure you have everything lined up. Okay.
As you could see here, these are the passenger side outlet holes. Make sure those are all lined up and then start your end bolt here, and then I'd recommend starting the ones over near the driver side. Once you have those lined up, then the other two middle ones go in pretty easily.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet.

Blend Door Actuator 2003 Chevy Tahoe
Ramiro
February 16, 2017
It's not easy to replace the passenger blend door actuator. But once I was finished, this part fit and works perfectly. Was getting nothing but hot air on passenger side while AC was on, that is no longer an issue. What's even better was that it saved me $100 compared to my local auto parts store.
Saved me a ton!!

Took my Yukon to the dealer because driver side was blowing hot air. They said it would be $1200 to fix because they had to dismantle the dash. Saw a video about the actuator and found one on 1aauto.com and it worked like a charm!! Even had a video to show proper installation!!

Chevy AC Blend Door Actuator

July 25, 2019
I purchased 2 of these actuators to replace the factory originals on my 2004 Chevy Silverado. The passenger side was only blowing hot air and even after going through the reset/calibration process I had the same results. This actuator is located under the dash cover and the recirculation actuator is off to the right, so I didn't want to have to re-visit this again and purchased one for each point. The actuator is well made and actually has a metal barrel section rather than plastic like the OEM part. Build quality of the actuator is very good and this isn't just some lightweight knock-off as it at least appears to be the equal of the OEM if not a little more robust. No issues at all with the mounting or fitment and the electrical connector mated perfectly. After installation I performed the reset/calibration routine and I'm back to normal with a lot of money saved over buying the OEM units! My truck has 4 total of these actuators and you can bet that if either of the remaining 2
Worked well only one small issue...

Replaced main vent control actuator with this.besides the difficulty in actually getting the old one out and securing the new one due to minimal clearance under the dash, my Only hiccup was I had sand the plastic actuator arm gear I reused from the original, just because the I.D of the new actuator housing was smaller than the oem and the shaft wouldnt fit. Wasnt a big deal just took a little extra time. Otherwise after replacing, fired the car up and the vents work great again. 1a auto comes in clutch one again thanks!!

Purchased for a 2003 Chevy Suburban LT with auto climate control. The old part had failed and used what looked like a plastic cam. The 1A auto part looks like it has a heavy duty metal cam and so far is working great. Dont forget to re-calibrate the HVAC system and check the overhead temp sensor. Recommended. Btw it is a super pain to get to because of the 7mm bolt head recessed in an area where it is very tough to get a ratchet in there. Of course this bolt was the tightest out of the 3 needed for removal

I thought this was the problem , Turns out it requires completely removing the dashboard to get to the problem. The teeth on the flaps are worn out and the vents don't operate properly. I found that using the " Auto " setting , although it doesn't work every time, will, most of the time, correct the hot air problem. I'm just not going to attempt removing the whole dash board. Hope that helps.

Is this the actuator that would need to be replaced if the entire front AC is blowing hot? Our back AC in the Yukon still blows cold. We took the actuator out and get moderately cool air when we slide over the little door where the actuator was.August 4, 2017

I have a 2004 GMC Sierra PU. I have the dual zone temperature controlled HVAC system. My truck very often will switch from cold AC air to VERY HOT air, to a point where I have to turn the AC system off. My mechanic said that the cause of the problem is a defective blend door actuator. I am having both actuators replaced next week...so stay tuned!

I've got an '05 Denali XL There ar three of these actuators under the dash. I took a shot at changing the easy (lowest) one, and it solved the problem.... not too dificult to get to either. However, gotta say, if it woudl have been one of the other two... where you gotta take the dash apart to get to them..... I'd have bailed on the project. FYI.. if you DO change one or more off the damper motors, you must reprogram them all to work together. There is a procedure to re-time them all together on line. Cannot find it right off hand tho. good Luck!
