To remove the 4-wheel-drive switch, I grab the dashboard trim and pop it out by hand. Put my keys in the ignition and put my foot on the brake. Just turn the ignition on. I'm just going to shift the shifter all the way down so I have some space, and then we can move the steering wheel down. Lift it out, hit the hazard switch, and put that back. Put the vehicle back in park. Turn the ignition off.
Let's move our steering column up a bit. There are two clips, two tabs actually: one here and one here. These are plastic trim tools. You can get these from 1AAuto.com. Just pry up here and I'll pry up here. Work the switch out. Pull it out of the dash. You need to disconnect the electrical connections. Push this tab and flip it open. Pull the connector out. Same on this one. Pull it up and over the lock. The switch is removed from the dashboard.
Install the new switch. Reconnect the electrical connectors. These are keyed, they'll only go on one way. Make sure they snap into place. New switch, push it up into the opening and lock at the top and on the side. Then, move the steering wheel back down. I'm going to turn the ignition on, put my foot on the brake, and shift the shifter down. Slide our trim panel back on. Make sure you get it around the shifter. Slide back in. Clip into place. Then go back in park, turn the ignition off. The switch is replaced.

Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the four-wheel drive switch pack on this 2002 Chevy Suburban. The items you'll need for this include a new 4x4 switch pack from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.
To start off, we need to remove the dash panel. Make sure your steering wheel is horizontal, pull down your shifter all the way down, and then just pull out on this panel. You want to slide it forward and up and over the steering wheel.
To remove your 4-wheel drive switch pack, just pry out from the different sides and it'll just pop out. Then to disconnect these two harnesses, you just want to put out on the tab and pull the harness free. Your switch pack is free.
Take your new switch pack, connect the harnesses, and then push it back into place.
Take your dash panel, put it up over the steering wheel, and then tuck it down behind that steering column. Line up the panel and push it back into place and you're all set.
