Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
What's up, guys? I'm Andy from 1A Auto. Today I'm going to be replacing the rear taillights on this 2008 Chevy Silverado. If you need parts for your vehicle, click the link in the description and head over to 1AAuto.com.
We're going to take these two Phillips head screws out. These are aftermarket screws. Whatever screws you have there, you're gonna wanna take those out, just use a Phillips head screwdriver.
Unscrew the top one, and unscrew the bottom one. Just grab the light assembly. You're just going to pull it towards the back of the vehicle. There we go. These are secured back here, these two little pins to go in there. And then we'll replace this harness right here. This harness is actually bad, someone tried to repair it and it's just no good. So we're going to take all these bulbs out.
Just untwist this and set the capsule aside. We're gonna take the bulbs out. Set the bulbs aside. Now, from underneath the vehicle, we're just going to grab a trim tool. We're gonna disconnect the harness from this retainer right here. Just slide it out. And, this one right here as well, pop that off. Then there's a connector right here at this junction box. Just push on this little lock tab, slide it out.
A little lock right there. We're going to slide this through, just like that. Let that hang right there, and we'll grab it from the top. Now just grab this harness, we'll just pull it through. Keep in mind what hole you're pulling this out of, because you're going to want to fish the new harnesses through there. Slide it out.
Here's our old tail light assembly. Here's our new taillight assembly from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, the shape is the same and the lenses are the exact same.
Flip it over. The mounting positions are the same. This actually comes with new anchors, so we can take the anchors out of the truck, and these will press right in. Comes with new sockets and taillight bulbs. Those are the same.
We'll look at the connector. Connectors are the same different color, but it's still the same connector. Get yours at 1AAuto.com and you'll be ready to rock and roll.
Before we install the new taillight, I'm just going to use a trim tool. We're going to take these anchors out because the new one comes with them.
You could use a straight blade screwdriver. Anything you can get just to pull them out. And some pliers or something. Just like that. Do the same with this one. We're gonna slide the new harness down that same hole where the old one came out of just like that. You can install these. Get those lined up with the holes, and these anchors up with the holes. We slide them into position. It may take a little bit of effort. This anchor hole is very rusty, so I'm just going to use a file.
Gonna line those up right there, push it in, and they should lock in place just like that. We'll slide this wiring harness back over this bracket back here, and over to this junction box. You're gonna plug this in first, just like that, lock it in place. Get that plugged in, and we can secure the wire with this little push retainer right like that. And we'll do the same over here. This one right there, just like that. Now we're gonna install these Phillips head screws. Get the top one started, and I'll start the bottom one.
Just snug them down, not too tight.
Thanks for watching. Visit us at 1AAuto.com for quality auto parts, fast and free shipping, and the best customer service in the industry.

Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we show you how to service a taillight on this 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. This is pretty much the same for all 2007 to 2013 Silverados, as well as the Sierras. We're going to show you both changing the bulbs, as well as changing the whole assembly and harness, if you need to.
You want to start off by removing these two Phillips screws right here. We'll just fast forward as he removes those. Once those screws are removed, you can just pull the taillight right out.
Now this is where you would change out the bulbs. You twist the socket, pull the bulb out, push the new one in, twist it back. The middle one is pretty much the same as the top one. The bottom bulb is a little bit different. You twist it the same and pull it out the same, but you have to unclip the harness from the taillight so that you can do that. It's just a small little hook that it hooks into, and then the bulb change is the same.
To change the assembly, you want to follow the harness. It leads underneath the truck here, you can see there's a clip right there you're going to need to remove. Right here, the bottom one is your passenger taillight, and the one above it is the driver's taillight. You're going to want to disconnect that harness.
After you disconnect the harness, you want to remove that clip I mentioned, and then you want to feed that harness through the truck until you get to your taillight. Once you have that all set, you can just pull the harness right up and out, and your taillight assembly is free.
On the left, is the new taillight from 1A Auto. On the right is the old one. You can see they're exactly the same, same mounting points, same harness, even with the clip on the harness, and identical clips. Since our truck's only a couple years old, we're actually going to install the old one back in.
You want to start off by just feeding that harness back down into the truck, and then line up your taillight. There are two pins on the taillight, and you want to line them up with the holes on the truck and just push those in. Then replace your two Phillips screws. We'll just fast forward as he replaces these. Now, you want to feed that harness back through the bottom of the truck, and you want to make sure you push in that black clip that's on the harness back up into the bottom of the truck, and then plug your connector back in, and you're all set.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

Silverado Tail Light

Your site is GREAT! Other sites & dealers sell these tail lights in pairs, therefore, the price is more that double what we paid thru your site. Why replace both when only one is broken? Plus no shipping costs, reasonable delivery time, directions included, easy installation. What more can you ask for? THANKS for saving us over $100!

Quality and fit were fine! Had to use wiring harness that was provided because of different bulb size of the backup light compared to O.E.M. harness at least on the one I received! Works fine! ; )

Chev Silverado twilight assy body anchors

December 14, 2019
Great light, comes with harness, bulbs and body anchors. Good fit except for body anchors. trying to push light assy into the old body anchor holes with anchors attached broke the anchors off the tailight assy. Opps! The fix here is to remove anchors from the new light assy and install the keeper socket in the body first or use a heat gun or hairdryer to soften the anchors so they fit in the body holes with ease. Or open the body holes with a file. Too much force will break off the anchor attachment points leaving the light unattachable in the forward section.

Had to replace cracked lense on my 2011 Silverado 1500 WT so I purchased this Eagle Eye replacement. I've had good luck with A1 so I I went with them.
Pro's: Lense fit perfectly, good quality, wiring connection fit perfectly, plenty of wire length (frustrating when parts have "just enough" wire).
Con's: Old bulbs fit new lense (pro) but I tried to go a step further and fit the original light "holders" into the new lense "receivers" so I wouldn't have to run new lense wire to wiring mount under bumper, but the new lense "receivers" are just different enough that old lense holders don't quite fit.
