How to Replace Center Console Lid 2007-13 Chevy Suburban
Created on:
Tools used
Phillips Head Screwdriver
1. Removing the Console Cover
Remove the eight Phillips screws from the console trim cover
Press the latch button to release the upper trim
Remove the four Phillips screws from the hinge
Lift the cover off
2. Installing the Console Cover
Insert the cover into the hinge
Tighten the four Phillips screws to the hinge
Tighten the eight Phillips screws to the trim
We're going to start by removing these Phillips head screws from the underneath. There are one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. Make sure you put these screws aside in a safe place. They're very small. You don't want to lose them. This black trim should come off now.
The clip is probably catching on it unless yours is broken, so you can just push in the button here to release it. Put this aside. I'm going to take this whole cover off so we can work on it on the bench. You have to loosen these screws, these four screws, at the hinge. These are also Phillips. Just hold on to it as you remove the last one because the console lid is going to be loose and fall off. Now we can lift this out.
We're back inside the vehicle to reinstall this console lid cover on the hinge. The hinge sort has a contour to it that matches this opening here. Slide this in. It's also got some locating tabs. Fit like that. Hold it with one hand, take the screws, Phillips head screws, tighten down these two outer screws. Then we install our center screws.
With the screws reinstalled in the hinge, now we're going to put this black trim cover back on it. It's going to go over this top hook just like that. It's going to hold it in place. There's eight little Phillips head screws. With those all screwed in, our console cover is all set.

Is this genuine leather or PU leather (faux)?July 3, 2024

I dont know for sure, but it appears to be an OEM replacement and the one its replacing seemed to be PU. I can say that it didnt have the smell I normally associate with PU leather, but I dont believe its genuine.
