Hi. I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this helps, the video helps you out. The next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace one of the side view mirrors. We do the driver side, passenger side is basically the same procedure. This truck has the standard power heated mirrors. We actually put a set of power heated towing mirrors on it just for a nice little upgrade, helps you see the trailers better. Tools you'll need are a T20 Torx driver, a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm wrench or a socket with a ratchet.
Start out with a little screwdriver or I got a little pick. Just carefully you don't want to scratch the door panel or anything. There's a little slot here in the back of it where it's vertical. You're going to pry this panel right out. Now, there's a Phillips screw here, remove that. Once you have that out, this panel here, small screwdriver, just pops off and opens up like that. This panel up here, just grab it with your fingers and pull firmly. It comes off. Then, there are screws.
There's a series of, there's actually six T20 little plugs. Actually, try and kind of go counterclockwise. Sometimes, they don't even come out. Better to stick my fingernail back behind and pull on a little bit, pull them out. The centers just comes out. There's six of them, remove those.
I'm just going to speed up. Again, there's six little clips. They just have a Torx head kind of screw locking pin in the middle of them. Turn it counterclockwise, pull back on the Torx head and you should pull that pin out. Once you get those out, then you just start to, right here, just pull lightly, get those clips to pop. The other part, there's clips just kind of staying behind. It'll pop right out. You just want to pull it out enough for those to pop out. Collect them all.
I'm going to move the panel up and off, and you can reach under and push up on your master switch here. That pops up and out. I'm just going to push this back in place. Pull up on the switch. There's a tab here, disconnect that and disconnect the small one and then we pull the panel right off.
The mirror or what's left of it plugs in right here. Just a little tab on the front side. Just a note, if you have a truck that has more accessories such as a puddle light or signals in the mirrors, then you'll need to probably disconnect two or more connections at this point.
Push that off and then there's a little clip up here. Three 10mm nuts hold the mirror in up here. 10mm socket and ratchet to remove them. Once you have them off there is a clip at the top. You just hold on to the mirror or again, what's left of it. That clip comes off and pull your old mirror out.
A new mirror from 1A Auto. For this truck, this is an upgrade. It's a towing style mirror. It flips up for a wider angle. It's designed to go in just like the original. Carefully lower it, put the harnesses through, feed them through. You put it in place. It has a clip as well, you have to hold on to it.
Top nuts are the most important. This bottom one, it's kind of underneath the weather strip, so actually kind of pull it up like this. Just put the nut up in place. The weather strip actually holds it on for you and then tighten this up nice and firm. I'm just going to fast forward here as I tighten those up and you want to tighten up nice and firm. The mirror plugs in just like the original. Black plug goes on top, right in. I'm just pushing on the back side of the pick. Use a small screwdriver. Reinstall the door panel pretty easy. Make sure your harness goes right up through. The lock button in place. Now, line up the panel, make sure it's pressed against the door and the front and the back, and then it slides right down in place. Again, make sure those wire are there.
Take our door handle bezel here, put it in. There's two pins that slide in there in the back. That goes right into place. Our screw goes in. Our little bezel, kind of put those long legs in first. This panel goes up here, slide right in place. The switch, put everything in. Down on.
Little pins, just put the outside and the first pin in first. Then, this little kind of screws just goes right in and locks it.
