Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video we're going to show you how to replace the air conditioning and heater blower motor. If your blower motor is going bad you'll usually hear kind of a moaning or groaning noise that changes pitch with the fan speed. It's a pretty easy operation; the only thing you'll need is an 8mm socket with a ratchet and an extension.
The fan motor is located right here in the engine compartment on the passenger side. It's held in by four bolts: one there, one further down, one right over here, and then another one further down. Use an 8mm socket and I'm going to use an extension for the top two. I'm going to remove the top two, which also moves this bracket and wiring out of my way. Fast forward as I remove those two bolts. Also, here's where your lead attaches in. You just pull this clip up and I'll pull the lead off and then move this wiring up and out of your way. Then I take my extension off for these two lower ones. Right down in and remove the two lower bolts. Once all those bolts are out, pull your wiring out of the way. You'll need to pull the tube way down low, pull that tube off the firewall. Lift the fan motor up and pull it right out.
Here's a new motor from 1A Auto. We'll put the gasket on. There's a little hole here and there's a line up stud here, so put the motor down in just like you took it out. Then line up the line-up stud and put it through the gasket. Now put the motor in; drop it down and you can get that on there. The gasket may get a little bit out of shape here, so you have to push it in a little bit. Let's see here. I've got my gasket lined up. I'm just going to start this one in first because it's easy to see; now I'll start putting my lower ones in. Start my other lower one in. Okay, I put the gasket and the motor on that line up stud and then pushed the gasket around to line it up. I started the top one first just to hold things in place. Then I started the lower ones and now I'm tightening the lower ones up. I'll fast forward through the rest of it as I tighten up the two upper screws. Make sure you re-plug in your lead and reinstall the tube that goes from the motor to the firewall.
