Is this an original Ford part or after market?

This is an after market part made in Taiwan. I have been using it in my 2005 Ford Ranger for more than a year and it fits and works fine, no problems. However, I did not have to mess with programming the key because the "PATS" security system has been turned off on my vehicle by the previous owner. So on my application any key will work, no programming required. I don't know the exact procedure for key programming.

how do you get keys programed?

my switch was on a '99 7.3 diesel dually and there was no programming. It was very easy to switch out. In the long run though it turned out that I had a clearance light water leak that allowed water to corrode the fuse block below the driver's door post and I would not have had to change the switch.

AFTER REPLACING THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER MY TRUCK WOULD NOT RECOGNIZE IT. ALSO THE THEFT LIGHT ON MY DASH WILL NOT TURN OFF. WHAT DO I DO?

The part did fit my truck the only problem is that the keys were not able to be programmed to my truck because the chip inside the new keys were not compatible with fords security system. So had to take it to a lock Smith so the could re key the new ignition cylinder to fit my existing key to my truck. Ended up costing me another 125 bucks instead of 60 dollar progmaing fee so that was lame. I even called before I ordered and they said everything would work..
