This was my first purchase from 1A Auto and I am completely satisfied with my new ignition switch. The price was considerably less than the the other Auto parts carriers. The delivery time was exceptional being as I did not request any Rush or special delivery. The video really helped me to do this by myself. Thanks 1A Auto. I will continue to order parts from you in the future.

This is my first purchase. Very pleased with service and the quick shipping. Pulled up a YouTube video on how to do this land it looked pretty easy. I clicked on the link from the video and ordered the part which was in my mail box about 3 days later. Followed the instructions from the video and it took me all of about 10 minutes. Perfect ??

This lock cylinder for my '96 Ford Ranger arrived earlier than expected. It is an IDENTICAL replacement for my faulty cylinder. The YouTube video was a big help and described exactly how I could replace the old cylinder. It was easy and saved me a lot of money. This was my 1st order from this vendor but it will not be my last.

Aftermarket Ignition Lock Cylinder for 95 Ford F150 Fails After Two Weeks

October 19, 2021
Well, it installed easily enough thanks to 1AAuto's video but unfortunately after a couple of weeks the interior buzzer started sounding and finally when I went to start the truck, I discovered the battery was completely discharged and upon further investigation found that there was a short circuit introduced between +12v and ground. The short persists even after the ignition lock cylinder was removed so now I have to track down a short circuit in addition to buying another ignition lock cylinder, sigh.

The switch works great! I did have a little trouble getting it in. What finally worked was putting a small radius on the tip that fits all the way in. The switch I received had some burrs on the tip. Once I took those off it slipped all the way in. Thanks for the videos they really help!

Customer Q&A
Is this possible without the ignition key? We have the door key which does not start the vehicle but have lost the ignition key.

I think you'll need the ignition key, as the cylinder has to be in the off position to remove. It can't be in the locked position. Also, the key is used to help pull the old cylinder out. If the cylinder is in the off position and not locked, you should be able to press in the pin and use a pair of pliers to remove the old lock.

Yes, you do need the ignition key to remove the old lock cylinder from the steering column. The switch has to be put to the run position to remove the cylinder. 1A auto has a you tube on the procedure, just google search for ' 1995 ford ranger ignition lock cylinder replacement '. Hope this helps. Steve B.

If you are replacing due to a lost key, may I suggest calling a locksmith. Some of the older model applications have codes by VIN#. They be able to cut you a key for the cylinder. If your unable to do so, check out Youtube videos for some other details and other options.

No, its a complete new lock cylinder with a new matching key to that cylinder, this means you have separate keys for the door and the ignition

I guess it means if I replace the ignition then now I must carry two keys since the new key will not work the doors?

I use the remote or keypad, but I keep the old one in the trunk just in case.
