Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace an ignition switch on this 2001 Ford Taurus. It's the same part and similar process on these Tauruses from 1990 to 2005. The items you'll need for this are a new ignition switch from 1AAuto.com, 7mm and 8mm socket and ratchet, and a T30 Torx driver or bit.
Start off by removing these two 8mm bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don does this. Now, just pull out on this panel, and it will pull free. Then, remove this 7mm bolt right here. Now, pull this harness down and out and remove these two T30 Torx bolts. Now your ignition switch will pull free.
On the left is the old ignition switch. On the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical, and they'll fit exactly the same. Ours also comes with a new adapter if you would like to replace that as well. The adapter is located right here. You would just pry that one out and push your new one in. You want to make sure that on your new ignition switch you have the switch lined up in the exact same spot as it is on your old one.
Then, you want to feed the switch right up into here. Just push it into place and replace those two T30 bolts. We'll fast forward as Don does this and then tightens them up. Reconnect this harness. Then tighten up that 7mm bolt. Line up the clips and push this panel back into place. Replace those two 8mm bolts at the bottom. Once you've tightened those up, you're all set.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

I bought this ignition switch for my early 99 7.3L Stroker. I had installed a Dorman, from the local auto parts store as a filler until this one finally arrived. The Dorman shorted out shortly after replacing the previous one. I don't believe it was any manufacturer defect, the previous owner of my vehicle did quite a number on the wiring, or should I say he left a bird's nest!. Long story short, we ran out of answers so I decided to remove everything the previous owner had installed including a Viper alarm and pod gauges. Installed the OEM switch... voila! It cranked over and ran...still running. Very happy with purchase, so far!

Simple to order. Great online videos to show how to install. I have used competitors online auto parts store and very disappointed in their customer service and delays in delivery. 1A Auto is a great company and the part is guaranteed to fit. I would highly recommend 1A Auto.
