Good fit .

Fit like OEM. Action seems a little stiff. Some resistance when inserting the key. I neglected to take into account that I now have two keys for the truck. One to open the door and one for the ignition. It now is a Ford instead of a GM. The truck is almost 15 years old and I might get around to re-keying the door locks down the road.
Don't wait until your stranded to buy

I was having an issue with my key not turning. I would have to jiggle the key like crazy, which only worked sometimes. I replaced it with this and now it's back to working like new. I called Autozone, and they wanted to charge me $107 for the same ignition cylinder.

Works flawlessly. If your original cylinder lock won't turn with the original key remove the outer plastic cap and use a paper clip at the 9 o'clock position along the outer edge of the cylinder to push down the lock plate and then the original key should turn the ignition to the start position to then remove it. Very easy to program if you read the directions.

2009 Silverado.
My keys or the original lock cylinder were worn so you had to giggle the key for a few (or several) minutes to start the truck. This solution worked great. I followed your video for changing the ignition lock cylinder and followed the instructions supplied with the part to program the supplied keys myself. Everything took about 45 minutes. I thought this was going to be a several hundred dollar ordeal with the dealership, programming keys, etc. $80 and the truck starts every time without "giggling". I now have 2 keys on each ring. The original keys unlock the doors. The new keys start the truck. Just like the old days.

So far so good. I used this lock and key set on my 2008 impala. The program procedure is different than the video 1a auto has. This is what I did.
After replacing lock cylinder and hooking back up the batt. Put new keys in the ignition and turn it on (don't crank it over) leave key on for 11 minutes. (Security light will go off) Turn key off and then turn back on for 11 minutes. Turn key off and then turn key back on for 11 minutes.. turn key off for five minutes. Turn the key over and crank the car. If you want to program the second key- turn the key that cranked the car to on position for ten seconds and turn off and remove. Put second key in and turn to the on position for ten seconds and turn off...... This is what worked for me.

2. But I add that you will have to carry one ignition key and the old ignition key to unlock the doors. You can take the old and new ignition locks and change the tumblers to match the old key.
