In this video we're going to be working with our 2006 Chrysler 300. This vehicle is equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 and an NAG-1 or a W5-A 580 automatic transmission. Now these vehicles from the factory come without a transmission dipstick. You just have this little plug cap here that says, "For dealer use only." Fortunately, this isn't just for dealership use anymore. Now you can have the proper factory automatic transmission dipstick for your vehicle at home to make sure that you're monitoring your fluid level and condition regularly without having to go to the dealership.
The way this works is it is universal for a variety of Mopar and Mercedes vehicles as well as some other makes and models. It has about 120 millimeter dipstick on the end that is incremented in 10 milometers. Your vehicle's dipstick will come with a chart telling you the proper transmission fluid level with the vehicle's transmission fluid at a certain temperature.
Again, we run into this dealership issue of your vehicle possibly needing a proper scan tool to accurately check your transmission fluid level. Fortunately, we have a way around that. Our shop is kept at 70 degrees, so our vehicle, when parked inside the shop all day, sits at about 70 degrees. This means that we can start our vehicle, cycle through our gears quickly, and check our dipstick level and be right in that 70 to 100 degree ballpark. This will give us a good idea of our fluid level without needing a proper factory scan tool.

The only items you'll need for this repair is your new dipstick and a clean paper towel.
Start your vehicle. Keep your foot pressed firmly on the brake and cycle through each gear in the transmission for a few seconds. If you have a manual shifter like us, click up as high as it will allow you. Sit in each gear for a few seconds. Cycle back through and check your fluid level with the vehicle in "Park."
It does say to check this fluid level in Neutral but in most vehicle, Park is the transmission in Neutral with the parking pawl engaged. Remove the factory plug from the transmission fill tube and install your dipstick. This may not seed in fully so just get it down as far as you can, remove it and check your fluid level. Compare this reading to the chart supplied with your dipstick and adjust your fluid level accordingly.
Thanks for watching. Visit us at 1AAuto.com for quality auto parts, fast and free shipping, and the best customer service in the industry.

Transmission Dipstick for Dodge 2007 to 2012 Nitro
T
February 2, 2018
Not what expected but it works fine with a heat reading tool. The heat reader is needed to capture the heat reading of the fluid. Then you need to compare it with a chart which is packaged with the dip stick. Then make adjustments as needed to the fluid level. BEATS THE COST OF HAVING YOUR FLUID CHECKED AT THE REPAIR SHOPS CHARGING 70.00 TO 100.00 AND TAKING THERE WORD AS TO WHATS NEEDED.
Worked perfectly

I never had a dipstick to check my transmission fluid. I saw a video that showed a dipstick being used, and the guy using it mentioned 1A Auto. I found 1A Auto's e-address and there it was. I ordered my own dipstick and now i'm able to check my own transmission fluid.

Works great, it's a dipstick. Only issue is you need to know the trans fluid temp. I bought a cheaper scan tool that was able to read temp. still cheaper than going to the dealer.
Excellent

Worked just as described. Written instructions were clear and concise and easy to follow. Graphs included were easy to read and understand. I would highly recommend this product.
A transmission dipstick is not just another dipstick. Don't trust anyone but 1A Auto!

I had previously ordered the same dipstick from another company. It took so long to arrive, I gave up and found my favorite website, 1A Auto and ordered another transmission dipstick. In the meantime the first order showed up. It had no directions, no increments marked on the "reading end" . I wasted my money with that company.
Then, I'm pleased to say that 1A Auto product showed up with directions and instructions on how to read "what" I had measured. What a relief!
Plus, I love the tutorials on how to use or install products we purchase.
I have no hesitation in totally recommending 1A Auto to everyone!
