Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the front drive shaft on this 2006 Jeep Liberty. The items you'll need for this are an 8mm socket and ratchet, flat blade screwdriver, a hammer, jack and jack stands, and a second person isn't required but it does make this a lot easier.
The front drive shaft is located right here, and it's held in on either end with a series of 8mm bolts. We'll start off by removing the front 8mm bolts. Using a hammer and a flat blade screwdriver, break that front part free. We'll just fast forward as Don removes the 8mm bolts on the other side. It helps to have another person holding the drive shaft while someone else removes the bolts, but you can brace it yourself. Again, use a hammer and a flat blade screwdriver and break this end free. Then you just pull this down and out.
Take your new drive shaft and feed it back up into place. You want to feed it in the back end first, and push the back end up and over where it's supposed to go. Then feed the front end in. You can now lower that back end down in place. Then you just want to replace those 8mm bolts. We'll just fast forward as Don replaces those and tightens them up. You want to stop the wheel from moving so that this won't turn so you can tighten the bolts up. Have a second person to hold the wheel or brace it some other way just so that it can't move. You want to repeat the process on the other end. Again, we'll just fast forward as Don replaces those 8mm bolts. After you've preliminarily tightened the bolts, go around in a kind of crossing pattern, tighten them to about twelve to fourteen foot-pounds.
We hope this video helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com, your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the Internet. Please feel free to call us toll-free, 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the Internet and in person.

Unfortunately when my son called about the part, the customer service rep did not ask for his VIN number so the part did not fit. There are two drive shafts for a 2004 Jeep Liberty and unfortunately we got the wrong one! Then we could not exchange the parts and had to return this one and wait for the new part.
Works Great

Ordered for an '02 Jeep Liberty 3.7 V6. Took no time to put it in (it was harder to take the old one out) and it fit great. No problems since.

The driveshaft I order was just like oem quality but at a fraction of the price can't say enough good things about a1 auto. And it arrived to me 4 days after I ordered it !

The order processing was easy, the part came in the expected time. The only thing was the tracking order to check status never updated and the usps code to track never worked. Other than that, its a great website to order from. I would again.
Economical but light duty

Drive shaft fit good and functional. I wouldnt consider it as good as original. Item weight is considerably lighter overal and CV joints dont seem as smooth. Fine for the person that just uses their 4 wheel drive occasionally. If I were into a lot of 4 wheeling and rugged terrain I would not recommend it.
I got the shaft.

I was able to find the driveshaft for my 2002 Jeep Liberty Limited 4 X 4 at 1A Auto. I was able to get it for a more reasonable price than many of the other online auto parts stores and my local auto parts stores. It arrived sooner than I thought it would. I was able to work on it right away after the parts arrival and complete the job in an hour. The 1A Auto Parts installation video on YouTube made it so much easier.

Yes, this is a complete assembly and ready to install. All we ask is that you confirm the length from weld to weld on your OEM part to confirm exact fit.

If you contact your dealer with your VIN they may have this info. Usually measuring the existing driveshaft is the best way, but your dealer may be able to help. Thank you!

Removed driveshaft measured 20 between welds, new, installed shaft measured 22 between welds, difference appeared to be made up in velocity joint length, actually fit better than original equipment, at least it did on our nitro which I believe is same shaft in 2007
