Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the coolant temperature sensor on this 2003 Nissan Altima. The items you'll need for this repair include a 14mm wrench, Phillips screwdriver, drip pan, and a funnel with a screen or new antifreeze.
Start by removing the radiator fill cap as well as your overflow bottle cap. Under the vehicle, in this hole right here, this is your coolant drain. Using a Phillips screwdriver, twist that plug out. Make sure you have a clean drain pan to collect that coolant. Once the coolant stops pouring out, replace the plug.
Disconnect this harness by pushing in the tab and pulling it free. There's your coolant temperature sensor. Put a 14mm wrench on, counterclockwise, and it should come right out.
Take your new coolant temperature sensor and twist it back into place. Using your 14mm wrench, tighten it back up, and reconnect your harness. Fast-forward as Don replaces the engine cover and those four 5mm Allen bolts. Refill the radiator.
We're using the fluid that we drained out, we've got a funnel with a screen. Pour it back in. You can use new radiator fluid if you like. Fill the radiator directly, then fill the coolant bottle, dry the vehicle, and make sure you fill it to the proper level.

This part is priced very nice however it didn't come with a washer. Short story 2 broke because of the washer not being included. Dealership said the quality was not up to Nissan spec.Got one from dealership and it went on with no problems what so ever.
