Hi I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle think of 1AAuto.com, thanks. In this video we're going to show you how to service the headlights on this 2001 Toyota Sequoia, same as any '01 to '04. We'll show you both just changing the bulb as well as if you wanted to replace your entire headlight assembly in case you had it broken or if you just want to put new ones in to get brighter nighttime vision. The old ones tend to pit and yellow and fade; nice new ones from 1A Auto will help you a lot. If you're just looking to change the bulbs, you don't need any tools. If you want to change the whole assembly, you will need a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket with a ratchet and extension.
If you need to just change a headlight bulb, you come right back here. There is a connector right here. You kind of have to go up and down a little bit and back and forth, and that pulls off. Then you can pull this rubber boot; you might want to just grab on the whole thing underneath and pull that off. Then there is a little retainer right here; you push in and then up. That comes off, and then your bulb comes right out. Then obviously you put the bulb back in. Put the bulb, we'll move our retainer back here. Put the bulb back in. The bulb's in. Now push the retainer back in and down. We take our dust boot and put it back on. Then we will replug in on this connection. It's the same thing over on the driver's side here. You want to start out, there's a little clip on here. Use a Phillips screwdriver and lightly turn. This center portion should come up and out. Once you get that up and out, the whole clip will come right out. Now you just kind of get your light to move around a little bit and then pull it forward. There are connectors on here; you just press the tab and disconnect them. To remove your headlight, there are four 10mm bolts: one, two, one up here and then one right in here. A 10mm socket with a ratchet extension, you could use a wrench as well. We'll just speed it up here as I just remove those 4 bolts.
In back of the light, here's your connector; you just need to grab hold of this and disconnect it. Now bring the light up a little bit and now here's your old light. The new light from 1A Auto you can see how much more clear and bright it is. Installation is just like the original. You take the plastic up off the bottom here. You've got to turn this it comes down from shipping. Put the light in and the top on there. That looks to be in. I'll speed it up here again.
You saw me. I threaded in all 4 bolts first. Then you preliminarily tighten them up once you get them all pretty close to tight, and then you go around and tighten them up nice and firm, but you don't want to over-tighten. Take your connector and put it back in. If you did need to adjust them you basically use a 10mm wrench, and this is the adjusting nut right here. You adjust them with the parking light off.
You take the plastic off, a nice new light from 1A Auto, obviously great if you have broken one. It's going to go in just like the original. You plug it in first. There's a large line-up tab here; make sure that goes under the fender. Then this clip needs to clip into the headlight, so put that in there. Also up here that this goes right under the fender here. Push it back in and you should be all set. Give it a tap; it's back in place nicely. The clip is designed to just go in, and then you just push the middle down to lock it in place.
