Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video, we're going to replace the blower motor in this 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. The process is similar for this generation Jettas, as well as the Golf, and the Passat.
The blower motor is located behind the glove box. Go up underneath and there is a foam insulation or sound pad here. On this vehicle, you use a flat blade screwdriver and remove the two clips that hold it in place. Once the clips are removed, pull the pad down and out. The heater motor is up underneath. A little bit to the right, there's a tab that you pull down. I can probably pull it down with one hand, and then twist with the other. Pull down, twist, and then there's tabs that hold the motor in, so just twist right out. Then you want to pull on the air duct that has the holes in it, to the top of the screen, pull it back a little bit, and then pull the blower motor down. Then as it comes down a little bit it will probably get caught on the carpet a little bit, so reach up in there and pull it down the rest of the way.
Then your connection will vary depending on what options you have. This vehicle has automatic temperature control so there's two tabs on each side. Pry the tabs with the screwdriver and disconnect.
To reinstall, reconnect your new motor. Make sure it's secure, and then feed it up into place. You'll want to feed the cage up into the hole a little bit first, and then feed the side closer to the engine of the vehicle; feed that in first. You can feed it in actually a little too far at first, pull it back down, and then it goes up by that ducting. Then you need to line up tabs, and once you get it in twist it and lock it in place. Then reinstall the foam pad. Put it up into place. I usually put the side next to the glove box in first around those air duct holes. Then push the rest of it up and in around the edges. Then put the clips back in.

Blower motor and fuse

After much "shopping around" and pricing parts, I just "stumbled upon" your YouTube video on how to install a blower motor and at the end the presenter said to find 1aauto.com ..so I thought what can it hurt to check. Well, the part for my car at the place I bought the car is 4x what you guys price and also the local auto parts store here in town is 2x you guys price. Plus, I ordered on Monday and parts were on my porch by Wednesday. Wow! And thanks to your video I was able to install without trying to "figure it out"
Thanks guys!
Okay for a minute

The buying experience was fine. I kick myself for not doing more shopping. I could've had a name brand part for the same price. Anyway, the blower worked okay after installation. It was a little noisy, but it's an old car so I didn't care. Turned the car on later and the fan cage exploded. Because of the timing had to run out and get a replacement. Replacement was much more expensive than other sellers. Refund process was pretty painless.

I was very pleased with the service I acquired when I phoned. I forget the girls name but she was very helpful. I will be ordering from 1A again, and will pass their name and reputation on to friends and family. Once again, thank you for your excellent service!

The product was damaged in shipping and quickly replaced without any fuss. The replacement motor installed easily. One note: the back of an OEM blower motor receives a plastic trim screw that must be threaded to hold a foam trim cover in place. The replacement motor does not feature a threaded female screw hole, and the hole that is there is too big for the trim screw. To me, that is not that big of a deal, for there is a second trim screw that holds the other side of the foam trim cover in place. But this is a flaw that needs to be addressed with the supplier, for it should be a relatively simple redesign of the relevant plastic injection mold.
Great fan at a good price.

The fan is doing great! I had to replace several fans until I determined I had a problem with water from the automatic carwash coming in through the vent to the outside through the back of the engine compartment. I fixed that issue and this fan has performed great! I just love 1A Auto!!!

Replacing the fan was incredibly easy and quick. Many thanks to the installation video provided. Actually the only "tool" we needed was a flashlight. The fan itself is as good if not better than the OEM. It's quiet and blows plenty of cool air which living here in Arizona is a must. From the ordering to to delivery was 3 days. Our experience was 5 star with 1A Auto.
It's ok, but loud.

It works fine. But I am disappointed on how loud it is on speed #1 when I turn it on low it sounds like it's on speed number 3 out of 4.
Like I said it works good blows great and fits properly, just disappointed in how loud it is.
Awesome

It should fit a 2011. Many Jetta parts from 2006 - 2013 or 2014 are interchangable between years. The fan is doing great. Yes, I have manual temp controls on my 2010 Jetta.
